Know the Signs

Recognized Forms of
Domestic Foot Abuse

Domestic foot abuse takes many forms. Many victims do not recognize they are suffering until it is too late and their feet have already endured unspeakable conditions. Educating yourself is the first step toward healing.

ðŸ§Ķ
The Sock on the Floor Incident

Partner leaves damp socks on the floor, forcing the victim to walk across them barefoot, creating a psychologically traumatic squelching sensation.

Severity: Moderate
ðŸ§ą
LEGO Scatter Abuse

Deliberate or negligent placement of LEGO bricks in high-traffic foot zones. The most commonly reported form of domestic foot abuse in homes with children.

Severity: Severe
ðŸĨķ
Cold Tile Neglect

Refusal to provide bathroom rugs or heated flooring, forcing the victim's feet into sustained contact with floor temperatures no foot should experience before 10am.

Severity: Severe
🚊
Door Frame Stubbing

Furniture placed in positions that inevitably result in repeated toe trauma. Experts classify furniture in high-stub zones as "passive foot aggression."

Severity: Critical
ðŸŦ™
Bare Gravel Exposure

Forcing or guilting a victim into walking on outdoor gravel without footwear. Often disguised as "just going to get the mail real quick."

Severity: Moderate
🛁
Non-Slip Mat Deprivation

Showering without a non-slip mat, leaving the victim's feet at constant risk of a slip-induced trauma event. This affects 1 in 2 shower users and nobody is talking about it.

Severity: Extreme
ðŸū
Pet Paw Aggression

Household pets scratch the victim's feet with untrimmed claws. The abuser refuses to schedule grooming appointments. The pets are innocent — they simply have not been maintained.

Severity: Moderate
ðŸŠĪ
Mousetraps in Common Areas

An emerging and deeply troubling form of domestic foot abuse. We don't need to say more. If this is happening to your feet, please contact us immediately.

Severity: Catastrophic
ðŸŒŋ
Wet Grass Without Warning

Sending a victim outside without notifying them that morning dew has rendered the grass an active bio-hazard zone for socks and bare feet alike.

Severity: High

So Can Your Feet.

"

Before I found Domestic Abuse Feet, I was living in a home with no bathroom rugs, exposed nail heads in the hallway, and a partner who owned a Dalmatian with claws like a mountain lion. Now, thanks to DAF, I can walk to the refrigerator at 2am in complete darkness and not step on a single thing. I wept.

I didn't know LEGO abuse was real until a DAF counselor showed me the literature. After DAF intervened, I can eat soup in my chair while watching my stories on the TV and not once worry that my feet will get injured on the way back from the kitchen. That is living.
